The Finnish Honorary Title Laamanni



We congratulate our Partner, Doctor of Laws, Kari Lautjärvi, who was awarded the Finnish honorary title Laamanni (Lagman) by the President of the Republic of Finland on 1 December 2017. This title is awarded to very select practitioners and was awarded to Kari for his outstanding career as an attorney at law and his active involvement in domestic and international bar associations, as well as his major contribution to pro bono work.

During his 30 years practice Kari has advised clients on domestic and cross-border M&A and finance transactions as well as other legal matters of broad range. He also acts as an arbitrator both in domestic and international arbitral proceedings. Kari has regularly been listed as one of the leading lawyers in Finland in the areas of finance and capital markets, e.g. in such international legal directories as Chambers Global and Europe, Legal 500, IFLR, European Legal Experts, PLC Which Lawyer? and Who's Who Legal. He has acted as the President of the Finnish Bar Association 2004 – 2007 and is currently acting as the Chairman of the Board of the Finnish Bar Association's Foundation. Kari is also Board Member of our pro bono partner Crisis Management Initiative (CMI), founded by Nobel Peace Prize Winner Martti Ahtisaari, former President of the Republic of Finland.
