I have a very good impression of Dittmar & Indrenius and regard the firm as the go-to legal adviser in terms of legal services regarding transactions in the energy and natural resources space in Finland.

Climate change, international cooperation and competition, decentralization, alternative energy, demands for security of supply and affordable energy as well as developments in policy, economic incentives and technology affect all energy sector players. In addition to developments in generation, distribution and storage technologies, digital and communications technologies enable more efficient energy management and services for businesses and consumers. Energy and climate issues increasingly influence the brand value of all companies.

In the infrastructure space, the interplay between public bodies and private investors is increasing and gradually opens up new possibilities for long-term investments in an asset class that has been publicly funded and owned for longer than in many other parts of the world.

The energy and infrastructure sectors in Finland remain in the center of interest. Many large cross-border energy and other infrastructure deals have been announced in recent years, and high activity in both sectors is anticipated also in the coming years.

We have been engaged in most of the major energy related transactions that have taken place in the Finnish market in recent years. While our focus is transactional, including M&A, financings and investments, we have strong expertise in specific legal and regulatory questions, such as legal issues surrounding so-called Mankala companies, energy market regulation and feed-in tariffs and subsidies as well as energy sector disputes.

We advise clients in all sectors of the energy industry. We are known for our industry knowledge related to nuclear, waste-to-energy and renewable energy generation projects and for our strong expertise in project finance. We represent energy companies, investors in and financiers of energy companies, utilities and suppliers of such companies.

We also regularly advise our clients in development of smart energy and resource solutions, new services and other projects relating to transition towards a more sustainable energy system.

Similarly with our involvement in the energy sector, we are regularly involved in other infrastructure transactions, such as transactions involving transportation and telecommunications infrastructure. We also represent project companies and financiers as well as municipalities and their suppliers in connection with construction and infrastructure projects, including life cycle and PPP projects.

We serve our clients in their legal matters based on our integrated full-service D&I Powerhouse model. By combining specialist knowledge within the firm we help clients structure their financing arrangements so as to create the commercially most advantageous result.
