Representing UPM in large-scale employment litigation over political strikes
We represent UPM in ongoing proceedings brought by hundreds of claimants, supported by their trade union, arising from the 2024 political strikes over labour market reforms, which prevented employees who did not take part in the strikes from working.
The central legal question is whether those non-striking employees are entitled to salary for a seven-day period from the start of the work prevention. The case raises novel and potentially precedential legal issues, as there is no established case law on point.
