Contract negotiations for the position of CEO require more than just legal expertise. The negotiators must also be familiar with the common content of such contracts as well as contract negotiation practices. This is particularly important when the parties represent different contract cultures and their normal practices vary. In management level contracts, it is important that both parties are genuinely satisfied with the agreement and that it facilitates a good start to the successful performance of the managerial tasks.
Of the 35 large companies (i.e. with a market value more than EUR 1 billion) listed on the Helsinki Stock Exchange, eleven have changed their CEO in 2018–2019. The Employment, Benefit & Pensions practice of Dittmar & Indrenius has represented one or other of the parties in more than half of these cases.
