Dittmar & Indrenius > Insight > Disputes for Breakfast: Tax-related claims in investment treaty disputes – what are they and who can present them?

Webinar: Tuesday 28 January 2025 at 8.30 am – 9.15 am

In the first Disputes for Breakfast of 2025, Helen Lehto and Kai Holkeri will discuss the possibility of presenting tax-related claims in investment treaty disputes. Investment treaties are entered into between states, but grant rights to investors (i.e. companies) to bring claims against states into which they have invested and which have entered into an investment treaty with their home state. In some cases, even tax-related matters might fall under the scope of such treaties.

The webinar will begin by addressing the basics of investment treaties, how they function and which companies can bring claims under them. The focus will, however, be on tax-related claims. When can they be presented, by whom, against which states, and how does one go about doing it?

The webinar will be held in English.
