We advised Betsson AB in its acquisition of Zecure Gaming Limited, a leading iGaming platform provider. We prepared and filed the merger control notification in Finland, which led to a speedy Phase I clearance.
Despite a truly rare statement by the Prime Minister’s Office opposing the merger, we managed to obtain a speedy Phase I clearance from the FCCA without any conditions on 8 April 2020. The case was especially interesting because of the challenging regulatory situation regarding foreign online gaming companies in Finland due to the national monopoly established in law.
