We acted as Finnish counsel to Handelsbanken on the sale of its card acquiring business to Worldline.

Handelsbanken has agreed to sell its card acquiring business to Worldline. In connection with the sale, Handelsbanken has also entered into a distribution agreement with Worldline. Founded in 1871, Handelsbanken is a Swedish banking group operating in six markets in the Nordics and Europe offering personal and corporate banking services. Its card acquiring business reported SEK 190 million in net commission income in FY20. Worldline offers digital payment services in the Nordic countries and globally. Worldline’s turnover is around EUR 5 billion.

The transaction is expected to close during 2021, subject to certain customary closing conditions and notification procedures.
