We represent numerous claimants in the precedent-setting Asphalt Cartel damages litigation – the first time antitrust damages have been awarded by a court in Finland.

We represent a number of claimant cities, municipalities and ports (e.g. the city of Espoo, Finland’s second largest city) in a precedent-setting, high-profile bundle of competition damages cases relating to the nation-wide Asphalt Cartel, convicted by the Supreme Administrative Court in 2009, to date the biggest competition case in Finland.

In the 1st wave of damages cases now pending in the Supreme Court and the Court of Justice of the European Union, the defendants were ordered to pay over EUR 30 million in damages and costs in the Helsinki Court of Appeal. The asphalt cartel damages proceedings are the first time antitrust damages have been awarded by a court in Finland. The matter is currently pending in the Supreme Court, which has made a request for a preliminary ruling to the Court of Justice of the European Union.

The 2nd wave of cases is pending in the Helsinki District Court.
